Into23 always uses native speakers of the language we are translating into for our multilingual translation services. It is important to use native speakers of the target language because native speakers of a language have a deep understanding of cultural context, language nuance, and the right tone of voice to use for different contexts. For example, for our English to Chinese translation services, we will always be using a translator who is a native Chinese speaker.

In general, we charge translation based on the number of words in the source content. However, we analyse the source content using our translation tools to determine if there are repeated sentences, these are translated once only. So while a word rate will give you an indication of a price, the overall price for translating is usually less, depending on the type of content.
The price per word will depend on the language combination being translated. We offer competitive rates for all languages.

A Translation Memory is a database of previously translated sentences. For each customer, we will build a translation memory for you. This means that once we translate any sentence for you, it will never need to be translated again. This is useful for content that is frequently updated. Using our translation memory tools allows us to quickly translate the changed content without having to rely on cut and paste.
For some content, Machine Translation is useful e.g. support content. It is not useful for content like marketing content. If we use Machine Translation we will always make this clear to you, we will offer a reduced price for using the machine translation. All machine-translation output will be edited by a human translator.
We have Non Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) with all our translators. We also use secure cloud-based translation software to translate. This means our translators are working in a secure online environment ensuring the security of your content. We support all commonly used files formats, we support all of these:
Microsoft Office formats, all Adobe formats including InDesign and Framemaker. We support HTML, XML and XLIFF. All string, resource and text formats: .txt, .ini, properties, .strings, .po, .pot, json, ini, rc, yml, dtd, etc.
We can work with graphic formats: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, bmp, eps, tiff, psd.
We can work with all subtitle formats including .srt, .ttml, .vtt.
Yes, we can translate PDFs. We will try to export the PDF into an editable format, if this is not possible, e.g. original is a scan, then we may have some additional formatting charges to apply.
The requirements for certifying a translation vary across legal jurisdictions. In general, we can support certification of the translation through self-certification by our translators. For countries where translators can receive a license to certify translations, we will only use qualified certified translators where certification is required. If a certification is required, we request that this is made clear on ordering the translation.
Internationalization is the process or strategy of ensuring that your content – whether is software, Apps, website, documentation, marketing materials or any other type of content – is optimized for translation and localization. These include:
- Ensuring software/app strings are separate from code.
- Graphical text is in editable format
- UI design considers that text in other languages will both be longer and shorter – so design should allow for text expansion/contraction
- Address formats are designed to take into account that other markets use different formats.
Localization is the process of making your content – of any type – ready for a particular market. Translation is part of the localization process but there are other important activities. It can include the following:
- Formatting content with the right font for a market
- Generating indexes or table of contents
- Recreating translated graphics
- Capturing screen from software/apps for translated user guides.
- Testing software/apps to ensure everything works correctly in the translated versions.
In short, internationalization ensures your content can easily be adapted for other markets, translation changes the text into another language, localization ensures the translated content is market-ready.
Transcription is turning audio content into text. It can include adding time stamps and adding speaker labels.
Creating a translated version of this transcription is a second step, translating the transcription into another language.
DTP stands for Desktop Publishing. It involves using software to format documents for printing or for online distribution.
Localization DTP involves the adaptation of the translated documents so that they are correctly formatted in their translated versions. This can be a simple process or it can be a complicated process. It depends on how the original is designed, what software was used and internationalized the original is e.g. does it have graphics with uneditable text?
For source documents in PDF format when the original editable document is unavailable, a DTP step may be needed to recreate the editable original document. When translating a document into multiple languages this will save time and cost after translation.
